The Sher-e-Rabbani Islamic Centre is named after the name of great Naqshbandi Saint Mian Sher Muhammad (1282-1347AH, 1863-1928 AD) Sharqpuri Naqshbandi Mujaddidi (Rahima’hullah!) who was born in the town of Sharqpur near Lahore, Pakistan, renowned as Sher-e-Rabbani Sharqpuri. He is the founder of this Khanqah in Sharqpur and earned the respect and repute of the top sain of his time and out of respect that town is called Sharqpur Sharif, in Pakistan. He was born as a saint. He was the living up model for perfect following of the Sunnah (ways) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH- Sallallaho aleyhi wa aalehi wasallam). His forefathers migrated from Kabul to Punjab and lived in Qasoor. Then migrated from Qasoor to Hujra Shah Makeem and then Sharaqpur.
His lineage goes all the way up from his naqshbandi teacher (murshid) Hazrat Baba Ameer-ud-Din to Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho aleyhi wa aalehi wasallam through various prominent figures of naqshbandi series (lineage) such as Khawaja Imam Ali Shah R.A. (Makan Sharif, India), Hazrat Mujaddid Alf Thani R.A (Sirhind Sharif, India), Khawaja Baha-ud-Din Naqshband Bukhari R.A. (Bukhara, Uzbekistan) – the founder of Naqshbandi lineage, through Abu ‘l-Hassan Ali ibn Ahmad (or ibn Jaʻfar) ibn Salmān al-Kharaqāni R.A, Bayazid Bastami R.A. and the Prophet’s companion Hazrat Salman Farsi R.A. and his close friend and caliph Ameer-ul-Momineen Hazrat Sayyedna Abu Bakr Siddique R.A.
His descendents at the Khanqah of Sharqpur Sharif are continuing the message and purification of the hearts of hundreds of thousands of muslims spread around the world.
